Solarig, through its biomethane unit Biorig, has begun acquisitions in Poland, targeting biomethane projects based on agricultural waste. The company plans to complete its first transaction this quarter and aims to build 20 biomethane plants by 2030, producing 1 TWh annually. Poland’s strong agricultural base underpins the strategy, with an estimated biomethane potential of up to 80 TWh per year.

Operating in Poland since 2023, Solarig is shifting away from greenfield developments, preferring advanced-stage projects with environmental decisions or building permits. Over 40 such projects have been identified. Investments will be financed through a mix of equity, project finance, and public funds, including anticipated support schemes. Experts note strong potential but warn that mature, high-quality projects remain limited and regulatory delays pose risks.
