Strengthening international law is Poland’s priority

“Since the first day of its membership of the UN Security Council, Poland has been implementing its priority of the strengthening of international law,” Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said during a UN Security Council meeting in New York on Tuesday.
Referring to the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, the Polish diplomat underlined that the document had been ratified and adopted by nearly every state in the world. He also recalled that it had been supplemented by three additional protocols playing a fundamental role in limiting brutality in armed conflicts. Minister Czaputowicz stressed that this priority “has always been an extremely important matter for Poland due to its difficult history, which has been painfully influenced by the lack of observance of international agreements by some states, and due to Poland’s sense of responsibility for keeping international peace and security.”
