UOKiK probes Allegro logistics
Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has searched Allegro’s headquarters in Poznań and offices in Warsaw, acting with court approval and police support, as part of an investigation into potential anti-competitive practices. The regulator is examining whether Allegro favoured its own logistics services, including Allegro One Box parcel lockers and partners in the Allegro Delivery program, by changing default delivery settings on its platform. According to UOKiK, customers previously saw their preferred pickup point automatically selected, but later a different location appeared by default, while the original option became harder to find. Officials say such practices could disadvantage courier companies outside Allegro’s network. UOKiK President Tomasz Chróstny said extensive evidence was collected and is being analyzed. Allegro confirmed the inspection, calling it a standard procedure, and said it is cooperating fully while maintaining compliance with competition law. If allegations are confirmed, fines could reach up to 10% of turnover, roughly PLN 7 billion.
