Matejek Group: Krakow needs skyscrapers to continue growth
Kraków needs more housing, but lengthy administrative procedures, limited investment land, legal complications, and cautious officials are slowing development, according to Sebastian Matejek, vice president of Grupa Matejek. He argues that the city and developers should cooperate as partners, particularly because developers also finance roads, utilities, and other public infrastructure.
Matejek believes Kraków should improve public transportation and permit more high-rise construction rather than continuing to expand outward. Despite regulatory difficulties, the company plans to remain active in its home market while expanding into Silesia. Grupa Matejek focuses on premium projects, emphasizing attractive locations, functional apartments, high-quality shared spaces, and distinctive design. Matejek also expects construction, financing, and regulatory costs to prevent sustained declines in housing prices.
