Shopping center turnover increased 4.3% y/y, attendance by 1.3% in Q1 ‘26
Shopping centers in Poland recorded solid growth in the first quarter of 2026, according to Polska Rada Centrów Handlowych. Foot traffic, measured by visitors per square meter of leased space, increased by 1.3% y/y, while retail turnover rose by 4.3%. March alone saw turnover climb 4.1% and visitor numbers rise 3.4% y/y, supported by an extra shopping Sunday before Easter and stronger holiday shopping demand.
The strongest-performing categories were services (+7.8%), restaurants and cafés (+6.6%), entertainment (+5.8%), and health and beauty (+5.7%). Smaller shopping centers posted the highest sales growth, while regions such as central and eastern Poland performed particularly well. Industry representatives say the results confirm that physical retail remains resilient, with consumers increasingly visiting malls not only for shopping but also for dining, services, and entertainment experiences.
