ESA to open technology center in Warsaw
The European Space Agency (ESA) will establish a new technology center in Warsaw following competition among Poland’s largest cities. The facility, financed mainly from the Polish budget, will focus on dual-use space technologies, including satellite communications, Earth observation, crisis management, and border monitoring in cooperation with Frontex. Industry representatives say the center could strengthen Poland’s space sector and encourage the creation of a technology hub, although its full operational capacity may take several years.
The government also announced a PLN 500 million fund, supported by PFR companies and BGK, to invest in space businesses. Experts welcomed the funding but stressed that Poland also needs a long-term national space program and stable public procurement.
