EU funds AI factory in Poland

The European Commission has announced the creation of six new AI factories across Europe, including one in Poland. The Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center will receive €50 million (PLN 200 million) to develop the Piast AI factory, part of a broader initiative to strengthen Europe's role in artificial intelligence.
The Piast AI factory will focus on advancing AI in sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity, space, robotics, energy, and climate change. In total, €485 million will be invested in new AI centers across Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Poland, and Slovenia.
Poland’s Ministry of Digital Affairs also revealed that Kraków’s Academic Computer Center Cyfronet AGH plans to apply for additional funding. These AI factories, supported by Europe's supercomputing network, aim to provide computing power, data access, and expertise to boost AI development, particularly for startups and SMEs.
