Min of Infrastructure wants to test autonomous cars on public roads
The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure proposes legal amendments to permit testing of semi-autonomous and autonomous vehicles on public roads. The amendments allow testing of automated vehicles (requiring driver intervention) and fully autonomous vehicles (no supervision needed). Tests will be organized by specialized business entities and authorized by a National Test Coordinator.
Permits, valid for up to one year, require adherence to road safety and traffic rules. Fees are capped at PLN 20,000 for a single province and PLN 40,000 for up to five provinces. The initiative addresses the growing need for autonomous transport and industry demands, enabling Polish companies to test cutting-edge technologies. The law is expected to take effect six months after its announcement.
