RES and carbon footprint still unknown to Poles: report
Switching off the light in rooms and unplugging chargers from the socket are the only activities to save energy by Poles. Still many people think that this does not translate into environmental protection and does not include green energy in their consumer decisions.
“Research indicates that although theoretically, consumers are aware that the media accounts for a growing percentage of their daily expenses, they are still reluctant to change their habits. Consumers are increasingly talking about the fact that in their purchasing decisions they pay attention to environmental issues, which, in principle, does not translate into their choices. Concepts such as renewable energy sources and energy mix, for example, have very low social awareness, “ Sebastian Biela, vice president of Energia Polska said.
According to the report "Green Generation. Together for the Earth ”published by the Mobile Institute as many as 47 percent of respondents negate global climate change, and 44 percent believe that ecology is just a temporary fashion that will pass in a while. 80 percent of respondents do not know what the carbon footprint means, and only 18 percent declare that saving water and energy can be a way to protect the planet.
According to data from the Energy Regulatory Office, in 2019 657,223 people decided to change their electricity supplier, which means an increase of only 8.7 percent from the beginning of 2019. This is very little, considering the number of entities offering cheaper electricity from RES.
