The Military Institute of Aviation Medicine and the Lechmar Foundation announce a strategic joint mission in the name of history and science.
Nearly a century ago, Marshal Józef Piłsudski essentially established the Military Institute of Aviation Medicine, a center in Poland that influenced medical research for aviation. Today, almost immediately, history merges with the future – the Military Institute of Aviation Medicine is strategically linked to the Lechmar Foundation to share data on the institute's heritage and the development of modern research infrastructure.
Among the elements of this collaboration are renovations, centrifuges, and the creation of the modern WIML Tradition Room. The "Whirlpool by the Spring" room was a training ground for the best pilots, and its walls have been filled with figures such as General Mirosław Hermaszewski – the first Pole in space – and many independent controllers from around the world. It was here that pioneering research on cosmic frequencies and the extreme conditions of human organisms, pilot psychology, and aviation physiology was conducted.
"Renovating the centrifuge room to create the new Hall of Tradition is more than just an investment in the facility. It is a reminder of the achievements of Polish medicine and the people who sacrificed their lives for safety in air and space, which replaced quality. We wanted this room to continue to inspire young people and be a bridge between practical and alternative research," said Col. Dr. Grzegorz Kade, MD, PhD, Director of the Military Medical Institute (WIML).
The new Hall of Tradition will be a space that not only showcases the Institute's history but also educates and inspires. Multimedia exhibitions, archival materials, and online presentations provide access to the source software and access to broadcasts on space medicine and the internet.
"Our Foundation, whose motto is 'We support the heroes of our times,' brings experience in raising funds for aid and promotional activities." We want the new Hall of Tradition to be located in a place that educates, integrates the community, and inspires a new generation,” says Karolina Maria Siudyła, Spokesperson for the Lechmar Foundation.
The strategic partners have created joint activities to raise funds, organize outcomes, and collaborate with both organized and utility partners. “To share the scientific experience, knowledge about the history, and the foundation in terms of communication and promotion. Together, we will share the scope of the Institute, its history, and the development of medical research, including in the context of data,” said the Director of the WIML.
The WIML and the Lechmar Foundation invite companies, institutions, and individuals to collaborate on this unique initiative. The modernization of the centrifuge room and the creation of the Hall of Tradition are not only an investment in results, but above all, historical memory, publication, and the development of science, which is important for the entire medical community in Poland.
