Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has raised concerns about telecom operators P4 (Play) and Netia for potentially misleading pricing practices. The companies advertise service prices that include optional discounts (€5/month for marketing consent and e-invoicing) without clearly indicating these conditions upfront. Customers rejecting these options end up paying €10 more than the advertised price.
UOKiK notes that prices must be transparently presented, with conditions clearly communicated at the outset, whether in ads or phone sales. Misleading pricing undermines consumer trust. If proven guilty, P4 and Netia could face fines up to 10% of their turnover.
Similar investigations are ongoing against Vectra, Multimedia, and other telecom operators like Orange and T-Mobile.
