US: Trump extends federal powers in fight against terrorists

On the eve of the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, President Donald Trump signed an executive order increasing government powers in the fight against terrorists, as well as people and organizations supporting them (also financially).
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the new executive order allows the State and Treasury Departments to directly prosecute leaders of suspected terrorist organizations and their allies “without establishing their connections with specific acts of terror.” In addition, the order is intended to facilitate the targeting of persons and organizations participating in the training of terrorists and allows for the imposition of sanctions against foreign financial institutions that knowingly maintain business contacts with potential terrorists.
