Work regulations coming for working outside, in 2027, in excessive heat
From 2027, Polish employers may be required to suspend work when temperatures exceed 35°C indoors or 32°C during heavy outdoor work, under draft health and safety regulations prepared by the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy. Currently, employers must mainly provide drinks when temperatures exceed 28°C indoors or 25°C outdoors, although workers may refuse duties in unsafe conditions. The planned rules would introduce fixed temperature limits, with employees retaining full pay during stoppages.
Companies may need to invest in ventilation, cooling systems, flexible work organization, and regular air-conditioning maintenance. Experts say heat waves should now be treated as a business continuity risk, not just a comfort issue.
