Prices in Poland calculated according to HICP increased by 4.1 percent in annual terms in February against a 3.8 percent increase a month earlier, European Union statistical office Eurostat reported.

Monthly prices increased by 0.6 percent.

It is worth reminding here that the CPI index calculated by the Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) amounted to 4.7 percent y/y and 0.7 percent m/m in February

The HICP index is a harmonized index of consumer prices, calculated according to the harmonized methodology of Eurostat. According to the inflation criterion contained in the Maastricht Treaty, the HICP is the basis for assessing price stability.

Data for HICP inflation come from spending on household budgets and from national accounts, and to the CPI only from spending on household budgets.
