Five regions account for more than half of Poland’s GDP

In 2023, Poland’s GDP reached PLN 3.415 trillion, up 10.1% y/y. Over half of the national GDP was generated in five regions: Warsaw Capital, Silesia, Greater Poland, Lower Silesia, and Lesser Poland, which together produced 56.4% of output and employed 51.4% of the workforce. The Warsaw Capital region alone contributed 18.3%, with per capita GDP of PLN 182,374—over twice the national average of PLN 90,759. Regions with the smallest shares (under 3%) included Opole, Lubusz, Podlasie, Świętokrzyskie, and Warmia-Masuria.
By sector, services accounted for 27.4% of gross value added, industry 26.7%, finance and real estate 10.6%, construction 7.2%, and agriculture just 3%.
