Foodservice industry goes to court for lockdown

The Polish Gastronomy Chamber of Commerce announced that a group lawsuit was filed against the State Treasury for lockdown. An organization that brings together 76,000 premises and generates PLN 37 billion in revenues to GDP, does not hide that this may be the biggest claim in the history of Poland.
Entrepreneurs are represented by the Dubois & Wspólnicy law firm. Dorota Rydygier, the owner of the Voila restaurant from Kraków, which officially represents the victims, claims that the industry's determination "reached its zenith".
"The government does not receive e-mails. I wrote e-mails asking them not to leave us. I even begged for help. Unfortunately, to no avail. I was only advised that I could take a loan, but I already have a loan," she admitted in an interview with TVN24.
The General Prosecutor's Office confirms receipt of the lawsuits.
There may be more claims against the State Treasury. As reported, the Prosecutor General's Office confirmed the receipt of two lawsuits related to the economic effects of the coronavirus epidemic. In this case, however, the amounts are not large – the entrepreneurs who filed the lawsuit are demanding a total of approx. PLN 650,000.
Representatives of other industries have also announced their lawsuits, among others, hoteliers. In December, the president of the Polish Hotel Chamber (PIH), Marek Łuczyński announced that PIH would initiate lawsuits for compensation to the State Treasury.
The fitness industry also considers all restrictions illegal. Its representatives claim that they have legal analyzes to resume operations.
