Inflation shows in price of ice cream
Ice cream has become a noticeably more expensive summer treat in Poland. A scoop now typically costs PLN 9–13, meaning a family of four can easily spend PLN 72–100 or more if everyone orders two scoops. Finax notes that retail ice cream prices have barely changed, but ice cream shop prices reflect much more than ingredients, including wages, rent, energy, equipment, transport, and storage. Labor costs in hospitality and food service rose 5.4% year over year, helping push prices higher even as sugar and milk became cheaper. T
