Poland earned one billion zlotys on sale of CO2 emissions
EU carbon allowance prices broke out of a narrow EUR 78–81 range in July 2026, briefly rising to about EUR 86 after the European Commission published proposals to reform the EU Emissions Trading System. According to KOBiZE, investors interpreted the proposals as evidence that the EU would maintain an ambitious climate policy and that allowance supply would remain constrained.
The rally proved short-lived, with prices falling back to around EUR 80 late in the month as investors took profits and trading activity weakened. Poland sold 2.76 million EUA allowances in two July auctions at an average price of EUR 81.57, generating about EUR 255 million, or roughly PLN 1.1 billion, in revenue.
