Poland will spend PLN 1.9 tn on defense
Poland is expected to spend PLN 1.9 trillion on defense between 2025 and 2035, more than twice the amount spent in the previous decade. However, economists warn that high spending alone will not guarantee equivalent benefits for the domestic economy. Much depends on how much equipment is produced in Poland, the participation of local companies, and whether foreign contracts include technology transfer and domestic servicing. Most defense purchases are still imported, although the EU’s SAFE program could shift more orders toward Polish manufacturers.
Analysts estimate that reducing the import share of military procurement could add around PLN 360 billion to GDP. Poland also needs to increase defense-related R&D, expand production capacity, and strengthen cooperation between state-owned and private companies.
