NBP chief on złoty fluctuations

The exchange rate of the dollar against the złoty is driven by events in the U.S. and decisions by the American administration, not Poland’s monetary policy, according to Adam Glapiński, president of the National Bank of Poland (NBP) and chairman of the Monetary Policy Council (MPC).
“This is not the result of our restrictive policy,” Glapiński stated, emphasizing that the dollar’s fluctuations impact global currencies, including the złoty. He reiterated that Poland operates a floating exchange rate, which "works perfectly" without direct intervention.
Meanwhile, analysts at Ebury noted that the złoty was the second-best-performing currency in its category after the Hungarian forint, appreciating 5% against the dollar over the past week.
